Adaptive Recreation & Programming

(907)459-1097 or (907)459-1070

About Us

The Parks and Recreation Adaptive Program offers community-based recreation activities specially designed for individuals who have a disability and/or special needs. Our services are designed to assist people in developing and using their leisure time in ways that enhance health, well-being, and quality of life. These programs promote independent individual interaction in a supervised group setting. Some of these programs include art activities, swimming, walking, bowling, lunch gatherings, games, karaoke, and more!

With the exception of art and swimming, most of these programs are geared toward adults. If you have an adolescent who wishes to participate in older group activities, please consult with the Program Coordinator about the guidelines for the activity. Most parent-accompanied adolescents are able to participate upon consultation. New faces are always welcomed!

Participants MUST register for adaptive recreation programs and can register by filling out the form here!  An up-to-date registration form and waiver are required for participation.

The FNSB VanTran service provides transportation to and from Adaptive Recreation programs. Participants must register through VanTran prior to receiving free rides to programs. You can register by filling out the form here!
